Toyota President States Goal For Team

Earlier this year, there have been reports that Toyota's Formula One team has been given a two-year ultimatum to achieve success in the sport. But recently, that speculation was denied by the team. Recently, team president John Howett said that no pressure was given to the team from Japan. But he also said that the team is dedicated to have a winning season for a change.

Last year, as we all know now, Jarno Trulli and Ralf Schumacher can only finish as high as sixth place which they did both once. The season ended with Schumacher leaving the team and the team signing former BMW Sauber test driver Timo Glock.

Howett knows that last year has been disappointing. "We have to do better than we did in 2007," he said, "and I think more importantly we want to do better. We only exist to win. We have similar resources I'm sure to many of the top teams; the difference really is the people we have. "

He also said that the team is working hard to get the best out of their car. "The competitive pressure of Formula 1 means the design development is remorseless – we start on the following season's car before the current season's car even runs. Going into this season we feel in good shape, but on the other hand we have to be paranoid that there are a lot of other very good teams and competitors out there, so we need to make sure we squeeze the maximum out of our package." That means that it would certainly be equipped with technologies and auto parts more advanced than ordinary ignition wire sets.
